Rev. Carissa Rodgers is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is a graduate of Hall High; and from Philander Smith College she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Political Science. She is also a recent graduate of the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned a Master’s of Divinity.
Carissa began her ministry through the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church in 2011. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., along with several other community organizations. She has deep passion for sharing the power of love, helping the oppressed find freedom, pursuing economic justice, and empowering young people. She has been commissioned for ordination in the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church and is now serving as Senior Pastor of Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church in downtown Little Rock.
More than anything, though, Carissa loves God and loves people. She does not profess to be a saint nor is she traditional or conventional in any sense of these words. She is, however, a foot soldier for justice and liberation, an unapologetic preacher of the gospel, and committed carrier of truth and love to all she encounters.
